The Hithe Community Garden: Open for Business!
This summer half term we put on a series of arts and nature activities for the local Rotherhithe community. Here's what went on...
Sustainability & The Neighbourhood
Participants delved into the symbiotic relationship between people, culture and the environment by creating seed bombs and microhabitats. Hosted by Look Alive and Symbiotic Neighbourhood.
Growing Poetry
Participants started by hunting for clues in the garden, using all their senses. They used what they found to write their own poem.
Hosted by Katie Dunstan, founder of The Poetry Lounge.

Weaving Waste, Weaving Nature
Participants upcycled cardboard boxes to make their own mini looms, which they used to create their own tapestries, weaving common waste material, like old clothes, colourful plastic bags and other packaging. They contributed to a collaborative artwork by weaving some natural fibres and other natural and compostable bits onto a large upcycled palette-loom in the garden. Hosted by Sunny Jar Eco Hub.
Drawing Inspiration
A drawing workshop that uses the sketchbook as a journal, taking inspiration from our surroundings and environment.
Hosted by Jesse Ajilore, local artist & Royal Drawing School graduate.

Garden Party
It was such a pleasure to welcome over 100 of you into our garden for our first open-to-all party.
Local people known and new came by to weave, paint, listen to music and spend time together among the flowers. It was a really special day. Thanks to everyone who helped to make it happen, special mentions to Rotherhithe and Bermondsey Choral Society, DJ Big Suze, the Hithe tenants and our lovely garden volunteers.
