LJ Works is a brand new purpose-built, low-cost work space in Loughborough Junction where diverse businesses can base themselves in order to grow and develop, in turn creating and safeguarding jobs in the area.

The site was previously used by the Loughborough Farm, who have remained on the site during the construction of the project, growing and supplying food through their Farm Café at nearby Wyck Gardens. Designated as an employment site, we believe it will intensify employment activity by meeting strong, identified local demand for workshops, office space and shared kitchen space. LJ Works consists of two new buildings which are connected by a yard and growing space managed by the Loughborough Farm. ‘The Front Building’ contains a shared textiles workshop and self-contained studio spaces. ‘The Rear Building’ has rentable kitchen spaces for food businesses, a co working space and messy workshop spaces for makers.

For the first 8- 10 years, LJ Works will be operated Meanwhile Space and afterwards we will train and empower a local community organisation to take over the management. We are collaborating with Mission Kitchen, Loughborough Farm, Repowering and Tree Shepherd to deliver the key components of this project – LJ Works will include:

  • The workshops, offices and textile hub will be managed by Meanwhile Space and these spaces are for start ups and micro businesses looking to swap their kitchen table for their own dedicated workspace.

  • Rentable commercial kitchen space and co-working desk space managed by Mission Kitchen.

  • Loughborough Farm community food growing project have dedicated growing space for fresh vegetables and fruit, as well a purpose built ‘Wild Mind Garden’.

  • Tree Shepherd will deliver a bespoke business support programme to resident businesses.

  • Repowering London’s solar panels will produce renewable energy and any profits will be channeled back into community benefit projects.
