Property Week Magazine and Urban Splash launched their Site Life competition in July 2010 inviting entries to animate a piece of land in the heart of New Islington, Manchester, while it awaits development.

It was an opportunity Meanwhile Space couldn't resist. With an army of talented and interesting thinkers we visited the site and drew on ideas to develop a collaborative entry with the Bureau of Silly Ideas and Wood Holmes Group. Meanwhile worked up a plan with interns Lily Ash Sekula and recent architecture graduate Charlotte Griffiths to produce a proposal that turned the empty site into a bee keeping oasis of wild flowers, allotments and enterprise hives.

We were delighted when the scheme came highly recommended among the very high standard of entries in the national competition and featured in Property Week Magazine's 1st October 2010 edition! You can see our entry here.
