This month Meanwhile Space CIC appointed Jess Steele, Director of Innovation at Locality, to its board.

Meanwhile Space CIC have worked with Jess since the Meanwhile Project was launched in 2009 and this seemed like the natural move to formalise her involvement.

Jess Steele commented “I’m delighted to become a director of Meanwhile Space CIC who have been a joy to work with from the first development of the ‘meanwhile’ concept and throughout the Meanwhile Project. Work so far has catalysed and demonstrated a whole new approach to regeneration and asset use. More than  1,000 members on the meanwhile ning are testament to the way Meanwhile Space are able to channel and support the high levels of interest. The challenge from now on is to ensure that Meanwhile Space can continue to turn that enthusiasm into practical projects, both directly and through advising others. I am particularly interested in dealing with barriers to meanwhile use – perceptual and technical – and will continue to pursue all opportunities to address these. After all, there is No Time To Waste.”

Meanwhile Space looks forward to working closely with Jess and drawing on her experience of communities, innovation and interest in assets.

Eddie Bridgeman, Director, Meanwhile Space CIC said “We look forward to working further with Jess, driving meanwhile use into the mainstream and working closely with both the property world and the policy makers to open up more spaces so people can innovate and experiment with new cultural, community and enterprising ideas.’
