O2 Centre, Finchley Road, London
Meanwhile Space is launching a meanwhile project in the O2 Centre, Finchley Road in London, with the support of New Deal of the Mind (NDotM), a groundbreaking charity set up to create access to jobs, and support self-employment in the arts and creative industries.
The partnership will take occupancy in early October and encourages local people, young and old, who want to experiment with ideas, or need a temporary workplace to develop their project idea, to get in touch. For inspiration, check out their current space on Exmouth Market, Clerkenwell, where they have hosted everything from a Charm School to a History Pop-up shop to vintage clothing stores.
Meanwhile Space and NDotM will transform the empty restaurant into a creative hub offering space and support to social enterprises, creative start ups and community-focused projects. Meanwhile Space will manage a programme of activity until an alternative, long-term use is secured.
Jessica Courtney Bennett, Meanwhile Space Project Manager “We’d like to thank the O2 Centre for allowing us to open up this space whilst they assemble long-term plans. We’d really welcome ideas and proposals from local groups and individuals to make the most of this opportunity!”
With a minimum three-month lease secured, the key aim of Meanwhile Space is to animate empty spaces, creating opportunities for self employment, greater footfall, until a commercial use is realised. Teaming up with NDotM enables the project to offer deeper support for those wanting to transform their idea into a creative business.
