What would you do with this space? The best idea to use this building in Wembley will be offered it, rent-free for 5 years.
This is an open invitation - anyone is eligible. The Make Your Idea Happen Here! competition, run by Brent Council and the Coming Soon Club (Meanwhile Space in Wembley), is inviting applications from individuals as well as community groups, charities and national or local organisations. It doesn’t matter who or what you are so long as you have a great idea and the means and expertise to bring it to life.
The winning idea will have access to the Pop - Down Square, designed by students of the Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture, which is due for completion in Summer 2013, for up to five years. The project is being supported by Ove Arup, Metsä Wood and Sweett Group.
The Pop-Down Square is part public square, part flexible covered space and is designed to be as adaptable as possible. The full brief will be available at the Make Your Idea Happen Here! launch. Meanwhile, the sky is the limit. All we ask is that the space is used constructively and creatively to the benefit of Wembley.

Alex Hearn from Brent Council’s Regeneration and Major Projects team said:
“Pop-Down Square is such a neat response to the brief. It provides a variety of uses within internal and external space, successfully improves the public realm and can cope with the rigours of major events in the Wembley area. It’s now up to a local organisation to come up with an equally amazing idea on how the space could be used. All of the students worked incredibly hard and I want to thank them all for their efforts.”
Charles Walker, Head of Architecture programme, said:
“The Pop-Down Square received unanimous support from the jury. The students fully addressed Brent Council’s brief and presented a clear strategy for the regeneration of this neglected site.”
