Meanwhile In Finchley Road is a place to make things happen, test your ideas, trial your projects, fail and to try again in a visible, creative and supportive environment. It’s a place to work together with experienced and start up meanwhilers and people in the creative industries.

A former restaurant awaiting development in the Finchley Road 02 centre will become a flexible space to work, build your business alongside others and gain from on hand support from Meanwhile Space and New Deal of the Mind. WIFI enabled, shopping centre frontage, prime street frontage. Our budget is based on a certain combination of rate costs, utilities, management and making sure it is still affordable for independents, social enterprises and charities.

The Programme

3 February, 18.00 – 23.00

A group of 10 Fine Art students at Kingston University put on a one night only exhibition of their work in the Finchley Road space to experience curating their work and to gather public opinion.

17 February, Hampstead School of Art

Hampstead School of Art, is a Community Art Education Charity. A non selective school which aims to integrate people of all ages and abilities into professional level studio teaching environments. The School receives no funding and has very limited resources for promoting the enormous difference it can make in peoples lives, we will be using the Meanwhile space opportunity to demonstrate silk painting, children’s classes and direct observational drawing to the public, we will also project a film about silk painting. We will also have volunteers who can talk about courses and give out prospectuses.

18-26 February, Mahika Pop-up

London-based start-up MAHIKA works with different upcoming designers and various artisans/crafts-people in India in order to develop hand-made and ethical products.

We work on a range of products for the home and personal accessories, available from a small online store and a market stall every Saturday at the Hampstead Market. This is a great opportunity to sample some of the new range of products.

A % of profits go to an orphanage in India.

How to get involved:

This is an amazing opportunity to use a fantastic space in a buzzing location while it awaits development. Meanwhile Space CIC have the space for 6 months and want to offer you the chance to use it. Anything can happen, limited only by imagination!
